About the Item
A spectacular pair of early Antique Etruscan Revival Victorian Urn and Shell motif Pendant Dangle Drop Earrings in 14 - 16 Karat Rose Gold. These earrings are of the highest quality. They have extraordinary Etruscan beaded granulation - the hand applied tiny dots of gold that characterize the Etruscan jewelry. The classic Victorian forms of the urn and shell motifs are beautifully rendered in the earrings. Adorning the front surface of the urns and shells are delicate beads and lovely swirled wirework, forming a gorgeous Etruscan design. Grecian-style handles rest at either side of the urns adding a wonderful eye-catching accent. The urn portion is articulated and hangs from the shell portion. The gold work is extremely fine and of the highest quality. The earrings are rose gold. The gold tests for between 14 Karat and 18 Karat gold. They hang beautifully on the ear. The earrings are rare jewels and date to circa 1840-1880.
Etruscan jewelry Etruscan Style refers to 19th century jewelry with design influences from Etrurian jewelry dating to the 7th to 3rd centuries BC. The jewelry is noted for granulation and applied filigree and is highly sought after.
The earrings are almost 1 inch (24mm) long and almost 1/2 inch (12mm) wide. The earrings are 8mm deep.
The earrings test for above 14 Karat Gold.
The posts are later additions and are 10 Karat gold. The earrings will be sent with the comfortable plastic backs.
Together the earrings weigh 3.3 grams.
