A pair of French Art Deco diamond and sapphire crescent earrings, each earring in the form of a crescent centrally set with a square-cut sapphire estimated to weigh 0.3 carats with two lines of small calibre-cut sapphires, the sapphires estimated to weigh 1 carat in total, each crescent grain and rubover-set with small old-cut diamonds estimated to weigh 3.1 carats in total for the pair, all mounted in platinum, with white gold fittings, bearing French platinum and 18ct gold marks, circa 1930, measuring 2.3 x 1.9cm, gross weight 12.4 grams.
This vintage pair of earrings is in very good condition, the sapphires bearing signs of wear consistent with their age. French hallmarks for platinum and 18ct gold circa 1930.
A pair of striking French Art Deco earrings from the collection of Bentley
Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. These stunning earrings are rendered in the shape of a crescent and set throughout with diamonds sparkling around a central detail studded with bold square-shaped sapphires. When clipped to the earlobe, they hug close to the face and spiral upwards exemplifying the fashion of the 1930s earrings.
