About the Item
These vintage earrings are crafted in 18 karat gold and white gold, designed as a mismatched pair of theatrical masks. Each earring is sculpted in relief with expressive facial features, referencing the classical motifs of comedy and tragedy. The gold mask carries a smiling, open expression with softened lines and a warm, reflective surface. The white gold mask presents a more somber, introspective face, its features deeper and more dramatic in tone.
The shields are slightly tapered and gently curved, allowing them to sit close to the ear. Worn on, the earrings feel playful yet refined. They frame the face with character and contrast, offering a distinctive, artistic presence.
Sebastian Schildt is one of Sweden’s leading contemporary silversmiths, known for his sculptural approach to jewellery and silver. He began creating in the early 1980s and today works from his workshop in the historic Oxenstiernska Malmgården on Östermalm — an 18th-century courtyard that houses one of the country’s largest silversmithing studios.
Alongside his own craft, he runs Galleri Sebastian Schildt on Strandvägen in Stockholm and, since 2021, Restaurant Oxenstiernan, located opposite the workshop and conceived as a meeting place for art, craftsmanship and gastronomy.
