10+ct Unique Amethyst Cut by Award Winning Cutter (Work is in Museums!)

About the Item

This is a rare type of Amethyst/Quartz that comes out of Morocco and a few other places of the world at times. Some my call it Amethyst Bicolor, Amethyst Tricolor, Tricolor Quartz, Bicolor Quartz, etc. It is essentially Amethyst whose chemical composition changed not only twice during its growth process by three times! The elemental composition of the growing crystal changed three times, so starting as Amethyst initially, then changing to Clear and then back to Amethyst during its growth. Wow!.... A Very Unique Natural Tricolor Quartz carved/faceted by a Multi-Award Winning Cutter, who recently one in a category receiving an award in 2024 from AGTA in their Cutting Edge Annual Competition. This exact material has also won praise when the cutter made a whole suite of these unique pieces, creating a necklace - this prestigious piece resides in the Alfie Norville Gem Mineral Museum in Tucson. Should you purchase this rare piece, you can visit the related gems and view the necklace in the museum. Note that this unique quartz, growing in zones of deep glowing amethyst, changing to clear and then back to Amethyst, is found in a deposit in Morocco and is not commonly found in general, not to mention one needs transparent and clean material in order to faceted gems. We love this material and managed to talk our associate into releasing the last few of the pieces he had. This gem weighs 10.75cts and the cutter/designer had a price of $600/ct on this. We can offer this piece at $300/ct. Save $3,225 off the retail price that the cutter/designer was originally asking! Original container with cutters info/price is available and will be used to house this gemstone in transit to its new home in the future! This material from Morocco is known to frequently have hematite legs (inclusions) - any in this gemstone will help to identify this gem species and perhaps even the locality - there is nothing that is glaring to the naked eye or distracting. Should you own a loupe or microscope, we encourage you to view the internal world of this gemstone. You can see some of the hematite legs in the close up photography in the photos and video - but with the naked eye, these fade into the design of the piece. We have another two pieces of this material - one larger, and one smaller. The larger piece was also priced by the cutter at $600/ct and the smaller piece at $300/ct. We can sell either at 1/2 that price should anyone have an interest. Perhaps someone want a ring and pendant combo! Included in the photos of this piece, is an example of other work by the masterful and multi-award wining cutter who faceted/carved this piece. He has won at least 3 awards working with this material and creating his unique pieces. His work, specifically in the case of this Moroccan Amethyst material, is on display in museums.
