19.45ct IMPERIAL Topaz, Premium AGL Cert, Incredibly Rare Size/Color/Cutting!

About the Item

One has to be very lucky to encounter a Fine Quality Colored Ouro Preto IMPERIAL Topaz of size now. Large pieces just don't exist. Very rare to find larger crystals and typically they are far from clean and therefore, they are more mineral specimens and not for cutting gemstones. However, some larger crystals might have a section of clarity in the center and that was the case of this piece. It was purchased by a friend/associate/specialty cutter of ours decades ago and he found a clean section that allowed him to facet this almost 20ct gem! The cutter is known as being a Multi-Award Winner, winning another prestigious award just this year from AGTA for his entry into the Cutting Edge Awards Competition. His work is also on display in a museum in Tucson. With his retirement expected in the future and my personal relationship with him, I was able to make this purchase and have a super rare gem placed into our inventory. The largest Imperial Topaz we had in the past was a 7.2ct oval purchased in about the 1989 timeframe and that was sold to Victor Mueller, Host of Shop at Home Gemstones segment for the tv show. In 1986/1987 I followed Victor on TV and was the Host and Creator of my own TV Show selling gemstones and related items! This 19.45ct Pear Shaped IMPERIAL Topaz is entirely clean, Natural, not treated or enhanced in any way and has been precision faceted by the cutter noted above; perfection in cutting and the polish only enhances this gem as the facets act as mirrors and reflects light on the surface while light is reflected internally! Totally CLEAN! In Tucson 2024, with dealers from around the world, I personally walked all the shows looking for anything equivalent in this size. This would be the place to find such a gem of this species and size IF one were available and I found none! - this size might have been available when I started the gem business back in 1981, but larger fine gemstones like this have disappeared from the market and those that exist will not even be seen as they will be traded between dealers or for collectors who know where there might be one and will quickly purchase before it gets advertised.... For those who don't know about the Tucson Show, which I have been attending and selling at for approx 38 years, here is what Google has to say: The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, which takes place in Tucson, Arizona each year from late January to mid-February, typically attracts around 65,000 visitors from 42 states and 42 countries. The show is considered the world's largest, oldest, and most prestigious gem and mineral show, and features about 50 gem shows across the city. (and yes, because of all the countries represented and all the people in general, I came back with covid at the end of my stay in Tucson this year) We are offering this at a price that we feel is very below what one would expect to find on the retail level. Our sales are typically 90% to dealers and when we sell our Fine Quality Colored Gemstones to jewelers, goldsmiths or gem dealers, the cost to the public will be increased tremendously.
