From the Castellani® Collection of Carved Gemstones is a finely detailed cushion shape Sapphire Cameo of a Pharaoh's Sarcophagus.=7.95ct
This hand carved sapphire cameo is of the "head" of a Sarcophagus was commissioned by our company to add this spectacular cameo to our collection. Sarcophagi were used to bury leaders and wealthy residents in ancient Egypt, Rome, and Greece, a sarcophagus is a coffin or a container, commonly carved from stone to hold a coffin. Most sarcophagi are made of stone and displayed above ground or sometimes buried. The most famous sarcophagus is King Tut's.
Measurements: 12.87x8.90x7.66mm
This magnificent carving has been graded by the GIA#2239202316 as Natural Corundum, Natural Sapphire No Heat Enhancement and of Sri Lanka Origin.
The sapphire is being sold loose, but will make a custom order jewel as per the client's specifications.

Castellani® commissioned to have this 20.64ct sapphire be hand carved as an intaglio of the mythical character Neptune /Poseidon. Neptune was to the Ancient Romans the god that controlled the waters, winds and storms. The Ancient Greeks called him Poseidon.
The hand carving shows the subject’s face, hair and eyes in very great detail. This large natural sapphire is Sri Lanka origin and No Heat, devoid of any enhancement. All gemological information is on a GIA Gemological Report. The GIA classifies the shape as an Oval Intaglio. The cornflower blue color and the sapphire’s crystal transparency lets the carving be seen easily and is very noticeable.

Castellani® has selected this Ancient Roman Agate Intaglio for the "Cleopatra" Ring Setting.
The intaglio dates to the 3rd to 7th Century.
The intaglio is both black and white agate, which is a hard stone and very good for carving. The agate has two layers of color, black on the top and white at the bottom. The agate intaglio is solid and is one piece. The carver was able to use these two color layers to give dimension and detail. The Column and Angel on the left wings are white and the balance is all black. The Carver knew the material he/she was carving and used this to create this very unique scene.
The intaglio shows two angels standing on either side of a column/pillar looking at the bust of a man on top of the pillar.
The angels are female and male. The bust on the pedestal is of a male.
The intaglio is set below the frame. The frame flairs out to a subtle point on the sides and has a flat surface.
The "Cleopatra" ring design was a style that Castellani created in the 1860's and was inspired by Ancient Roman rings...
