About the Item

Beautiful 2.39ct Blue Montana Sapphire in a Hexagon-like Shape, which is frequently the shape of the natural crystals found in this locality Masterfully Faceted by an AGTA Award Winning Cutter, whose work is within museums. He is one of those specialty cutters of talent that we use to facet/groove our fine rough gemstones at times. He bought the rough and faceted it - this should be unheated. Using a loupe and looking internally into this gem, one would typically agree this is unheated - deep in the stone is a small cloud which would dissolve and disappear upon heating. This is not something readily seen without magnification. Most Sapphires and many gemstones are now heated to improve color. Unheated Sapphires are therefore more rare, more costly and a collectors items for some. This is a fine example of MT Sapphire, fairly large for this material and priced well for this size, color, location, gemstone species, and the fact that is it unheated and faceted by an incredible cutter! Another must see in person to see the sparkle/brilliance and the unique color which does change/shift under various lights. It will be more Teal or more Blue and takes on grey too, another very popular color in gemstones over the past 10 or so years. Photos typically do not do gemstones justice as you can't see the life as it is tilted and moved as you can in person. The video helps to show the brilliance and the photos also show how bright it is. Photos and video are not corrected for color; sometimes a color description is better than attempting to correct what the eye sees in person, but you can certainly see how brilliant/sparkly it is! Measures approx 7.3mm across.
