On offer is this gorgeous MASSIVE 9CT ANTIQUE ROSE GOLD PROPELLING PENCIL FULLY WORKING DETAILS Material: 9ct (375/000) Solid Rose Gold - Lovely highly detailed engraved design with scrolled detailing Style: Classic push propelling Pencil Age: Antique Early Victorian c1850s Condition: Very Good for age, fully functional lovely gold detailing Intaglio: Shield bloodstone cabochon, engraved Mechanism: Push propelling with screw off top for lead storage, old leads are still in there Hallmark: Old UK 9ct assayed, maker FCB and fully tested / guaranteed (see below) Origin: UK DIMENSIONS Length (extended): 128mm Length (closed): 103 mm Width (max): 15.5 mm Weight: 18.4 grams total Other Info: Very striking, well made. The piece originates from the UK. A stunning and highly collectable piece of historical gold work. Important info about ancient jewellery: Many pieces such as this were made long before the Hallmarking Act came into force and though we have been hallmarking items in the UK since the 1300s this was not the norm until recently. Many items were handmade by the "family jeweler" and never went off to be assayed. Anything made pre 1920 does not need to be hallmarked by law.
