This book is an in depth survey of this new found creativity of jewelry design, which is for jewelry which is designed to be worn seven days a week by anyone so inclined and not as is often the case with fine jewelry which is stored safely away and only worn on special occasions. These pieces are fun, glamorous, bold and often dramatic and can be made from glass, rhinestones, lacquer, mother of pearl, metal, gold or silver plate or a combination of any of these. In the second half of the century the couture houses often designed jewelry to complement their fashion designs and collections. Among those illustrated here are - Rene Lalique, Schaperelli, Chanel, Miriam Haskell, Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix and Yves Saint Laurent. 633 illustrations with 500 plates in colour. 323 pages.
