Circa 1913 Solid 14K Yellow Gold Presentation Key and chain from the University Club of Washington D.C. presented to President William Howard Taft, the historic Clubs membership includes a renowned who's who of American society and important political leaders, the clubs dining room is named "The William Howard Taft Room" The Key measures 2 1/8 inches in length and is attached to a 14 1/2 inch chain, total weight of the piece is 39 Grams. This piece is in Pristine condition, the original box is in very good condition showing some wear on the outside. The silk lining of the Presentation box is printed in Gold with the name Galt
Brothers jewelers, Galt was the oldest Jeweler in Washington D.C and one of the oldest in the U.S opening its doors in 1801 and finally closing in 2001, Galts customers included Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln, Jefferson Davis, Ulysses S. Grant, The Roosevelt's, The Kennedy's, the Tafts and many more. A Rare piece of American History.
