About the Item
A Victorian ruby and pearl snake stick-pin, the coiled snake with three faceted rubies set on the forehead, two cabochon-set ruby eyes, suspending a pearl from the mouth, the finely engraved body mounted in yellow gold, circa 1880, the jewelled part measuring 2.6cm x 1cm, the pin measuring 7cm, gross weight 4.2 grams.
This very fine Victorian stick pin comes from the collection of Bentley
Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. During the Victorian era, the serpent symbolised everlasting love. This finely rendered serpent is embellished with bright rubies and a lovely natural pearl.
This antique pin is in very good condition for its age. Unmarked, tested a 15ct gold.
