Elegant 15K English fob, circa 1855, with a tapered regency style shape and intaglio of a heraldic coat of arms. The base of the fob is chalcedony, a form of quartz. The intaglio shows a lion in passant and a drape on either side falling from the reeded rod. The drape supports the shield with the heads of three rather fierce looking dragons. Fantastic heraldic monsters such as these dragons were a symbol of courage. This family crest is meant to symbolize courage, resourcefulness, and loyalty.
