About the Item
Edison pearls, a freshwater pearl variety that has only been around for a few years. are the product of several years' research by Grace Pearls, located in China. Borrowing from the techniques used to cultivate saltwater pearls, and adding some proprietary innovations of their own, Grace has been able to produce a freshwater pearl that rivals South Sea pearls for size and Tahitian pearls for range of color.
We got these pearls at a trade show in July of 2023 from a dealer based in San Francisco that works directly with Grace Pearls. This particular strand, which we had strung on salmon-colored silk thread, is slightly graduated, and consists of twenty-eight oval- and drop-shaped pearls ranging in size from 12mm to 14mm. The colors are primarily peach with mauve and pink overtones.
These pearls are not treated or dyed; whatever secret sauce Grace Pearls has cooked up, it creates incredible colors and intense metallic luster.
The clasp was made here in our shop by Eytan Brandes -- it's a large* toggle clasp in solid 14 karat gold that looks so good you won't mind "closure creep"
This necklace is 17 inches long and weighs 91 grams. Eytan isn't keen on stamping narrow, curved areas, so the toggle isn't stamped or signed. Instead, we'll provide you with an appraisal to verify the maker and purity of the clasp as well as the authenticity and specs on the pearls.

Note: color changes in the photos are due to the metallic luster of these pearls. They reflect off everything and looks different in every lighting situation. The photo that best captures the extraordinary color of these pearls in an ordinary lighting situation is the "hand" photo (which was taken outdoors on an overcast day.)
*The rod is 1.5" long and the ring is 20mm (0.8") wide. The gold weight of this clasp is just over 8 grams.
