A delightful Antique Art Deco Riviere Necklace. Rich, opulent amethyst glass, emerald cut, stones are hand set in a claw mounted rhodium plated riviere necklace. A dramatic and forever stylish original Art Deco jewel, carrying centuries of design.
Rivière refers to a river of gems around the wearers neck. Both romantic and lavish. The Rivière necklace first became popular during the Georgian period of the 1700s. Since then, this style of necklace has been redesigned and updated many times owing to its elegant and timeless appeal. Rivières are experiencing a renaissance where the stacking of Rivière necklaces is the much copied hallmark of celebs including fashion icon Anna Wintour.
Vintage Condition: Very good without damage or noteworthy wear.

Fastening: Fold over clasp with safety chain - safety chain can be removed if preferred.
