Large and Important Moghul Style Necklace by Maison Gripoix. Luxuriously colored pate de verre, crystal pastes and faux pearls, completely hand made by Maison Gripoix and caftan ready. This is the kind of necklace that evokes a different time and place, as well as a style of living that rarely exists nowadays. The Iris Apfels or Dodie Rosenkrantz's would have worn this necklace, layered 10 deep, to a casual event in Venice or Palm Beach, bare feet in the sand. Exquisite quality in a process no longer used by the house of Chanel. Marked "France". Made in France 1960's. Excellent condition. The drop on tassel from necklace is 7". Tassel is 1.25" in width. Exquisite and hard to find (large) Chanel simulated gemstone necklace "sautoir", comprised out of alternating joint gilt metal "metal dore" beads, large simulated baroque pearls, green and red "pate de verre" poured glass Gripoix, and diamante rhinestones. The necklace is accented by a large red "poured glass" drop at the bottom. Made by Maison Goossens in a Renaissance manner for Chanel - signed Chanel 1983. This rare necklace is a fine example of 1980's Chanel fashion jewelry.
