About the Item
This one-of-a-kind necklace is composed of natural and untreated jadeite beads I've purchased from my long-time connection in South America. I've purchased all the finest beads I've been able to secure from him and hoarded them.
This stunning 21" necklace is composed of 86 of the most magnificent, rarest, most unique colors of jadeite jade. From pale blue "Blue Olmec" jade to rich, emerald "imperial" green; from bright "Apple Green" to a vivit shade of Mint. These are the colors of the jungle, in necklace form. They also represent the very finest greens in the world of jade.
All of these beads are natural and untreated. They were all hand-carved locally, at the source. The beads range in size and shape from 10.04mm x 6.28 rondel-shapes to 7mm x 4mm beveled-rondel, 8.57 round.
At 74 grams, this is a weighty, substantial necklace. I've strung the heavy beads on cable for worry-free daily wearing. A sterling silver clasp finishes the necklace. It's a ruggedly beautiful piece you will simply never want to remove. Jade beads are never given unusual forms like these native-cut ones. This gives the necklace such an incredible authentic authority.
These jade beads were among the very first green beads -as opposed to the Blue Olmec- extracted from Guatemala. First they found light teal, then light minty green, then apple green and finally a green that rivals the finest Imperial and this necklace serves as a sort of record of that history. It's an important, irreproducible piece.
