About the Item
This weighty (100 grams), substantial, and substantially beautiful 16" jadeite jade necklace is composed of thirty-one 12.5mm natural and untreated jadeite jade beads from Guatemala. A 14k white gold clasp set with a vivid orange cabochon of untreated Burmese jadeite jade completed the piece.
Hand-strung in thick, pale blue 100% natural silk cord, these Guatemalan jadeite jade beads display a rich, moody palette of deep forest green, teal, and slate hues, with subtle variations that lend each bead a unique personality. Some beads reveal ghostly swirls or faint translucence under light, while others are more opaque, anchoring the strand with a grounding, almost ancient presence. There are occasional warm undertones—moss, olive, or even a whisper of bronze—that surface depending on angle and lighting, adding dimension and depth to the overall effect. The orange jadeite cabochon bezel-set into the 14K white gold clasp perfectly emphasizes the warm orange coloring present in so many of these "blue Olmec" jade beads. These beads are hand carved and polished. Though they so not ship with a lab certificate, these beads are from a private inventory of Guatemalan Jadeite Jade beads we have owned for years and all previous necklaces and bracelets created from this inventory of beads have tested natural and untreated. Our owner is a Certified Professional Gemologist with advanced training in jade and is a second generation jade collector who is known worldwide for the quality of the jade he offers.
This necklace possess stunning luminosity despite the opacity of the jade beads themselves. This quality is due to the unique mineral structure of jadeite, which has interlocking mineral "fibers" much like felt. And it is this unique geological construction that provides jadeite with such astonishing talent at seemingly holding onto light and releasing it slowly over time.
