About the Item
This exceptionally handsome necklace is a generous length of 22 1/2”. It’s composed of 8m Italian red coral beads. 18kt polished spheres, vintage carved rock crystal torchons.
The design focuses on the nine rock crystal torchons. . These are flanked black onyx rondelles which in turn are flanked by red coral beads. There are an additional two coral beads and a polished 18kt gold round beads, and another black onyx rondelle. There is and pleasing rhythm between the three elements of the piece.
This piece works well with a variety of accessories. Earrings of gold, rock crystal and diamond, or black onyx rondelle, gold and red coral earrings would be especially complimentary.
The 8mm coral beads are wall matched and vibrant. They have a very desirable and pleasing slight orangey cast. The hand carved rock crystal torchons are vintage and could likely date from the 1920’s through 1930’s and beyond. These being having no clear way to identify the age I can only surmise the date from the hand carved irregularities and periods when these were very popular. These are very difficult to find.
This is a very eye catching piece as is certain to illicit many compliments .
