Tantalum and jadeite bracelet and necklace combination; rarer than rare. The 11" long "Planetary Bodies" bracelet features 8 natural and untreated jadeite jade beads from Guatemala in a distinctive bluish-green color. I refer to it is a planetary bodies bracelet because the size and scale of the beads reflect our own solar system. While the beads are opaque, they remain translucent and interact beautifully with light. The beads range in size from 7.18mm to 19.86mm. This large focal point bead us embellished with a pair of small (3.22mm) but solid 18K yellow gold beads. The beads are strung on tantalum. Mic drop. Did you hear it land on the floor? No? Well, maybe that's because you aren't up-to-to-date on your tantalum trivia. Tantalum is the rarest metal on earth. Well, the rarest stable metal. Francium is technically the rarest metal but it only exists briefly and is radioactive and cannot be " isolated in visible, weighable amounts" (Encyclopedia Britanica), making it unsuitable for use in jewelry. Tantalum is rarer than gold, platinum and every other metal you can think of. It' has a lustrous, grayish-blue appearance, a melting point so high that if your tantalum bracelet slipped off your hand and into a running river of lava, you could fish it out and it would be fine. It's denser than lead. It is also highly resistant to corrosion and is immune to attack by aqua regia -a horrid mixture of corrosive acids known for its ability to dissolve noble metals like platinum and gold. Tantalum is hypoallergenic. The distinctive color of tantalum also happens to be the perfect color to compliment these unique-in-the-world-of-jadeite beads. About the size. Although it's 11" in length when open and hanging, the size of the beads - 7.18mm, 12.46mm, 17.12mm, 12.63mm, 19.86, 14mm, 12.64mm, 10.18mm) creates an inner diameter of approximately 79mm when closed. This is the size of an XL men's jade bangle. I have an 8" wrist and you can see in the photos how the bangle drapes but won't fall off my hand. If you are an individual with a wrist larger than 8" and large hands, this bracelet will feel made for you. If you have small or medium-sized hands, (smaller than about 77mm) measured from knuckle to knuckle) the bracelet will slide off. Like most of the pieces in my beaded jade bracelet collections, there is no lab certification included for the jade. This saves money and helps me keep the price down but does require a leap of faith on your end. All of the jade I use in my collection are from previously-tested "batches" from specific suppliers and all previous samples have tested as "A" jade. I only use "leftover" jade beads that I had in my collection after creating a necklace and then sending that necklace to the gem lab for testing and certification. Even though I can identify jade treatments with about 99% accuracy, I only sell jade that has been lab tested and is natural and untreated. Even my nephrite has been tested, which is highly uncommon in the industry. Yet Tiffany Co. coats their nephrite necklaces in polymer. So even though I'm not including lab certification (with several exceptions), you will receive only untreated jade. The bracelet has company. In he form of a perfectly matched one-of-a-kind 21 ¾" necklace. The rarest metal and beads hand-carved from one of the rarest gems, sharing such a similar tone. The dense, satisfyingly weighty Tantalum has a muted luster, while the jadeite has a complimentary high-gloss polish. There are 19 natural and untreated jadeite beads: 13 measure 7mm and the larger 6 are 12mm. Their high translucency makes the beads dynamic, changing with the light. Jadeite's unique crystal structure seems to act like a spider's web for light; they are luminous even in the softest lighting.

This 30" Jadeite Jade, Pink Spinel & 18K White Gold Endless Necklace is a one-of-a-kind jewel created entirely by hand from 130 natural and untreated, hughly translucent deep green jadeite jade beads from Guatemala, each of which measures just shy of 5mm. 1.89 solid 18K white gold spacer beads that are faceted in four "bands" along each bead. This has the effect of reflecting light into the rich green jadeite beads and increasing their luminosity , but the beads also add diamond-like sparkle between each bead.
