An especially beautiful and rare suite from the 1940s, this vintage Sandor Renaissance necklace and earring set draws inspiration from the opulence of Renaissance jewels, reimagined through the lens of mid-century costume artistry. Renaissance style is coveted for its rich symbolism, regal opulence, and timeless romanticism.
Exquisitely crafted in gold-plated metal, the piece showcases intricate metalwork paired with deep marquise-cut ruby crystals and richly coloured glass cabochons, emulating rubies and turquoise. The attention to detail is exceptional, from the ornate pendant forms to the jewelled accents that continue along the decorative link chain. Sandor was founded in 1938 in New York by Sandor Goldberger. Sandor jewellery is scarce owing to the small numbers produced by this remarkable and elite costume jewellery house. Ingenuity, exceptional attention to detail and high quality craftmanship were the hallmarks of Sandor. As with many of the great American costume jewellery makers of the 20th Century the company ceased trading in the 1970s. Their legacy is a beautiful one and if you hunt a piece down; especially their large, exquisitely enamelled brooches and statement collars, you will be adding a seriously covetable jewel with a life story to your jewellery box.
