Circa 1880s, 18k, France. This 60-inch-long, eighteen-karat gold necklace is a charming example of nineteenth-century French jewelry. Handmade motifs are interspersed with links for a look that is stylishly au courant. It is delightfully versatile and can be worn long, wrapped once or twice, or layered with pearls and/or other chains. Excellent condition.
Remark: "Town and country, suits or frocks; these necklaces easily dress up or down. As perfectly chic today as it was fashionable over a hundred years ago, and soooo French!"
