This rare and luxurious 19th-century pocket watch chain is an outstanding example of equestrian-inspired jewelry from the Victorian era. Crafted in richly toned 14 karat yellow gold, the chain is composed of a flexible snake-link design, beautifully smooth and substantial to the touch. At one end, the chain culminates in an extraordinary sculptural terminal: a galloping horse, modeled in dynamic motion with remarkable naturalism.
The horse is finely chased, with every detail carefully rendered, from the flowing mane to the textured bridle and ornate body decorated with foliate motifs. Its eyes are set with cabochon red stones, which give the figure an expressive, lifelike quality. This combination of sculptural form and stone detail elevates the chain from a functional watch accessory to a miniature work of art.
The opposite end is fitted with a swivel clasp, ensuring that it could securely hold a pocket watch, fob, or seal, while also allowing the horse motif to be prominently displayed when worn.
