Kalevala Jewelry Sun Lion Necklace, Bracelet and Earrings.
Necklace 44cm Bracelet 18.5cm bronze
The jewel's lion, whose mane spreads like the rays of the sun, has its prototype in the Haliko treasure. The straps on both sides of it, on the other hand, imitate the strap beats found in Haliko's Rikala. The beast depicted in the Romanesque style probably has its roots in Gotland, and possibly also the beats, but the model of the latter was imitated and modified a lot in Finland in the 10th and 12th centuries. Kalevala Jewelry's "Sun Lion" thus brings a breath of the time when the influences of Christian Europe were transmitted to Finns through the islands of the Baltic Sea.
