About the Item
A necklace designed by Chantecler of Capri.
Fabulous statement twisted necklace, created in the island of Capri in Italy by the jewelry house of Chantecler during the mid century period, back in the 1960. This rare and beautiful vintage necklace has been crafted with an intricate woven pattern of twisted wires made up in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with textured finish. It is embellished with a great selection of fifty natural earth mined diamonds and is fitted with a concealed security box lock with a discrete hinged figure 8 for extra safety. We've never seen such uncharacteristic style from Chantecler, this obviously is one of the first pieces the Maison created.
Diamonds: Mounted in four-prongs settings, with 50 calibrated round brilliant cut diamonds, with a total of about 5.15 carats, white colorless F/G color, VS-2 clarity.
Weight: 136.40 Grams, (87.44 Dwt).
Size: 16 Inches, (40 Cm).
Measurements: The width is 16 mm (0.63 Inches).
Hallmarks Stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay of the gold and signed, "CHANTECLER CAPRI .750".
Chantecler
The company was founded in 1950 in the island of Capri. A story tied to the end of the Second World War, to peace and to that magical and visionary island that has been a source of inspiration for artists, writers and poets from all over the world. The first character in the story is the young Pietro Capuano, heir to a family of Neapolitan jewelers; Pietro was nicknamed Chantecler for his eccentric and irreverent personality, after the rooster in the novel of that name by Edmond Rostand. In 1950 when Pietro Capuano, along with his friend Salvatore Aprea, founded the Chantecler brand and opened a jewelry shop that became an instant hit with the international jet set. The masterpieces that emerged from the two men's creativity have enchanted actresses, princesses and aristocrats from all over the world, from Jacqueline Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn to Ingrid Bergman Rossellini. The origins are in Capri, where the first shop was located, but they are all over the world. The Chantecler headquarters is now in Milan, while the production center is in the city of Valenza Po, an area of goldsmiths known around the world for its manufacturing excellence.
