About the Item
Gay Freres torque necklace 18 karat gold and silver torque. Semi-articulated torque necklace, composed of two alternating twisted elements of gold and organic material. The two elements meet in the center, held by a ring. The necklace ends with a supple round link chain. Gay Frères necklace, circa 1960-1970. Gay Frères goldsmith hallmark and “GOLD AND SILVER” hallmark. Length: 37 cm - Thickness: 11.6 mm Weight: 77.85 gr

Maison Gay Frères was established in 1835 by Jean-Pierre Gay and Gaspard Tissot, starting with a chain-making workshop in Geneva. From the outset, their quality work and creativity distinguished them, earning them immediate recognition. Renowned for their bracelets, they became the preferred suppliers of the most prestigious watchmaking houses such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and Zenith, at a time when the wristwatch was gaining popularity. They also collaborated with Van Cleef &Arpels on jewelry.
