About the Item
Judith Hendler designed this gorgeous, modernist piece of art choker necklace in the 1980s. It has the iconic Acrylic or lucite (also known as Acri-gem) neck tube ring, and spectacular geometric charms hang from a silvered metal twisted chain. The necklace is in an elegant, transparent color. This is a rare, fascinating statement piece.
Dimensions: The necklace's inner circumference is 16.94 in (43 cm), and each geometric element is 0.63 in wide (1.6 cm) by 2 in high (5 cm) by 1.07 in deep (2.7 cm).

Judith Hendler
Judith Hendler was already a nationally known artist before she started making her unique lucite jewelry. Her paper sculptures were exhibited all over California and in New York City. Hendler, Los Angeles-born, began making jewelry from her husband's discarded acrylic extrusions left over from the manufacture of aircraft windshields and cockpit canopies. Hendler's jewelry distributed under the name Acri-Gems Inc., her brand was soon being sold at Bonwit Teller, Saks Fifth Avenue, Etc. Specifically noted was a piece worn by actresses Joan Collins on the Television series Dynasty in 1985.
