About the Item

A Phillips enamelled fish necklace, the thirteen openwork links depicting two coiled fish the one enamelled in red and the other in green colours, connected with thirteen lozenge shaped links, each centrally set with an old-cut diamond surrounded by black and white enamel geometric decorations, suspending a pearl, all mounted in yellow gold, measuring approximately 37x 1.5cm, signed Alfred Phillips, circa 1890, gross weight 37.7grams. This necklace is in very good condition. Unmarked, tested as 18ct gold. A stunningly detailed enamel necklace, made by Alfred Phillips in the late nineteenth century. This highly collectable piece is exemplary of the fine enamel technique practiced by Phillips in the second half of the Victorian era. The chain features thirteen looped links, each featuring two fish, one red and one green. Between the fish are kite shaped links with white enamel and a brilliant diamond, and from each is suspended a luminous pearl. The links go all away around the length of the necklace, making it a wonderfully detailed piece. This necklace comes from the collection of Bentley Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III and would look lovely worn with a simple evening gown. Should you choose to make this purchase we would be delighted to send it to you in a Bentley Skinner handmade leather case packed in a gift-wrapped Bentley Skinner black and gold presentation box. Shortly afterwards we will send you on a valuation for insurance purposes for your reference and safekeeping.
