About the Item
An Edwardian pearl and yellow gold necklace, comprising seven round seed pearls, and one-hundred-and-fifty round half seed pearls, set in 15 karat yellow gold, to a 15 karat yellow gold chain.
This sophisticated necklace is set throughout with seed pearls. The pearls are pale, lustrous, creamy, and well-matched with one another. A row of shimmering seed pearls held within bezel settings, and interspersed with larger similarly set pearls, creates an articulated chain, which is completely flexible and allows it to sit perfectly against you. From this pearl-set chain, floral drops are suspended. Larger, 5-petalled flower drops are suspended from the larger seed pearls, adorned further with a gold bead, pearl set leaves, and a whole seed pearl central to the flower. Between each of these, is a smaller trefoil drop, with a pearl-set kite-shaped motif, with gold beading and gold scroll motifs. The necklace is complete with a yellow gold rope twist chain, with a secure box clasp and safety chain, and is weighty with luxurious gold. This necklace is exquisitely made, and when handling it, you can feel the quality of the piece. The design which allows it to be fully articulated indicates superior, quality craftsmanship. The necklace is in great condition. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
