About the Item
An Edwardian, sapphire, diamond, pearl, platinum and yellow gold pendant necklace, comprising two round cut blue sapphires, ten old single cut diamonds, one half seed pearl and four diamond chips, in platinum and 15 karat yellow gold.
My favourite thing about this Antique Yellow Gold and Platinum Sapphire and Diamond Necklace is the elegant design. What’s yours? Perhaps the sparkling diamonds? Or the luxurious antique case?
This Edwardian necklace comprises an elegant pendant. A round cut blue sapphire is held within a platinum, millegrain edged bezel setting. The sapphire appears to be floating at the centre of a ring of platinum, creating a geometric motif. A knife-edge bar is suspended from the sapphire, from which a daisy drops. The daisy is formed as a round cut sapphire, surrounded by 10 old single cut diamonds, creating the petals of the flower. This too, is set within a millegrain edged bezel, and is surrounded by a similar ‘floating’ setting, but this time a daisy shape. The diamonds are bright, white, sparkly, and well-matched with one another. The sapphires are a soft blue hue, befitting of such an elegant piece. The pendant is suspended from a platinum trace link chain, which is fastened with a marquise shaped clasp. The clasp is set with a half seed pearl, and 2 pairs of diamond chips, creating a propellor-like shape. The pendant and clasp are backed in yellow gold. The pendant is in good condition, with one tiny nick to a crown facet of the sapphire in the daisy (which cannot be seen with the naked eye). Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
