This is an absolutely stunning and very rare antique Victorian - Belle Epoque Pink and Angel Skin Coral Cameo Pendant or Brooch Pin with a hand carved image of a classical goddess woman set in a gorgeous 10 Karat Yellow Gold frame with a halo of seed pearls and black enamel. Coral cameos are very rare and the imagery of this cameo is highly desirable. The beautiful setting of the cameo is in 10 Karat Gold with a halo of delicate seed pearls and a second halo with black enamel and inset seed pearls.
The cameo is of extraordinary beauty and the imagery is very rare. The exquisite hair, the drapes of the clothing, and the face of the woman are stunning. The cameo is deeply carved with the angel skin color for the goddess and the pinker coral for the background. The piece has a bale to be worn as a pendant. The bale folds down when worn as a brooch! This is such a wonderful feature of the jewel.
Cameo jewels are all the rage today and this is one of the most beautiful carved gems we have seen. It is very rare to find coral cameos and the seed pearl halo and black enamel adornments create a magical jewel of the utmost beauty and style. The cameo pendant brooch dates to circa 1850-1900.
The pendant/brooch is 3.5 cm tall not including the bale and is 2.7 cm wide.
The pendant weighs 7 grams.
There is some minor repair of the enamel at around 7 O'clock. This does not detract from the piece in any way in our opinion but we wanted to mention it.
