About the Item
This delightfully ditty necklace is what is often referred to as a negligee, and this particular piece dates to circa 1910. The negligee centres on a small cluster of diamonds set in a symmetrical oval motif of platinum from which two drops are suspended. The yellow gold and platinum topped drops are mounted with diamonds and two substantial round cut white sapphires which are rub over set. Each of the diamonds in the necklace are estimated to be of H colour and SI/pique clarity totalling 0.12 carat. The very fine platinum chain that the negligee is suspended from terminates with a barrel clasp and figure of 8 safety catch which is working well and is secure. Whilst unmarked this necklace dates to the first quarter of the 20th century and likely originates from Continental Europe. A really beautiful antique necklace that could be worn with jeans and a t-shirt or with a little black dress to a cocktail party.
