About the Item
Circa 1970s, 18k, by Othmar Zschaler, Bern, Switzerland. This necklace has a striking visual presence showcasing Othmar Zschaler's flawless design sensibilities. Combining a spectacular fantasy flow of opal (natural opal) with an abstract cubist gold landscape, the massive stone is the ocean in a cubist shoreline, a rough landscape of gold that gives the piece dimensionality and texture juxtaposed with a glossy flow of blue-green. The look is boldly confident… luxuriously one-of-a-kind. Excellent condition.
Sought after by museum and private collections alike, Othmar Zschaler's work was important, often included in articles, books, and exhibitions.
Stone Details: The opal is beyond spectacular. Left rough in some places and polished in others, it is a masterwork unto itself.
