An infinity design can take many forms, most often comprised of a single type of stone in all the same size, shape, cut, and color, flowing around the entirety of the jewel. In this case, the infinite flow is of a singular motif, arranged in a manner uninterrupted even by the clasp, which is cleverly concealed. This Contemporary Diamond Pave Link Collar Necklace, made in the 21st century, emulates a simple chain composed of oval links. The overlap of the causal links looks effortless; however, the construction of the piece ensures that the measured spacing is maintained to perfection. The 16-inch (40.64 cm) collier or collar necklace features an utterly minimalist formal configuration and color palette. Twenty-two identically sized and shaped ovals are crafted in 18kt white gold and pavé-set with sparkling round brilliant-cut white diamonds in single delicate rows.
The collier has existed in various forms since the birth of the necklace itself, once found in a tomb in central Europe dating as far back as 4200 BC as well as around the necks of ancient Egyptian pharaohs and the priestly caste. The collier was popular in the art world during the Impressionist movement with women at garden parties depicted wearing this attractive, close-fitting style. The collar necklace is formal and elegant, but utterly wearable as an eye-catching signature piece. Here the linking ovals are eternally perfectly composed with the most delicate amount of overlap, cleverly fixed yet fluid with a near-invisible mechanism on one side of each link. The closure likewise fixes this precise intersection, building in a concealed push clasp directly at the point of convergence.
