Indulge in a museum quality RUSSIAN SILVER GILT
ENAMEL BELT OR NECKLACE, FROM ST. PETERSBURG AND DATING TO 1908-1917. The impressive silver gilt and cloisonné enamel belt comprising three rows of linked domed buttons and large shield form buckle with kindjal style latch. Overall length is 26 inches (66cm). The belt is hallmarked St. Petersburg, Cyrillic makers mark BB probably for Vasilii Victorov, and 84 silver standard with the head of Minerva.
This extraordinary silver enamel belt or necklace is a masterpiece of silver work and enamel jewelry making. This quality of work was done by the St. Petersburg artisans at the turn of the 20th Century. The dynamic open work link design in silver is wonderful. The vivid color enamel has fabulous details and design. The very unusual and dramatic piece dates to 1908-1917.
The belt is 26 inches long and is 4cm wide.
The buckle is 6.7 cm north to south.
The piece has extensive hallmarks with BB for the maker Vasilii Victorov, as well as 88 and the 84 and the head of Minerva mark.
The belt weighs 147 grams.
