This turquoise nugget paperclip silver 52" necklace was created in the Arts
Crafts Style, most likely in the 1970s.
The 3.73mm wide paperclip silver links are punctuated by the most gorgeous, fascinating, natural turquoise nuggets. The turquoise stones seem to me to be from several different mines, making this something of a turquoise "specimen necklace." Bisbee, possibly Lander Blue, Lone Mountain, Number Eight. I can't be sure that I am correct without a laboratory examination, but the stones are consistent in appearance with stones from these locations.
The luxurious, slightly eccentric length means you can wear it as a single strand around your neck and allow it to fall where it may. Or you can double it. Possibly you can triple it. And even wear it as a bracelet. A classic spring clasp -very sturdy- gives you this flexibility.
The turquoise stones -with an average size of approximately 15mm x 11mm) appear to me to be un-stabilized. One or two of the stones may have a nick, but it's kind of hard to tell because of their naturally irregular shape. Overall, the necklace is in beautiful condition. And it truly captures the spirit of the Arts and Crafts era -entirely handmade, utterly natural, and simply beautiful.
