About the Item
In a beautiful array of colors, shapes, and sizes, this fabulous French necklace combines some of Kirsten’s Corner’s favorite things: Egyptian Revival and nuggets. In between each scarab cabochon is a cast 18k gold nugget, with texture and shape that beautifully emulates a natural gold nugget. Between them is a parade of wonderful colors that reminds us of hard candy. The cabochons are carved with scarabs, and on the bottoms of some, there are carved hieroglyphics that emulate ancient Egyptian writing. Two focal points draw you in: a larger carnelian agate with a pale peach top and a deep red base layer, and a larger iridescent lapis lazuli. The rest of the stones are slightly smaller and include tourmaline, purple sapphire, chrysoprase, labradorite, black onyx, opal, quartzite, dyed blue hard stone, and dyed blue green chalcedony. All the stones are bezel set and placed thoughtfully throughout the necklace to create a rainbow of stones that beautifully complement each other. Everyone loves Egyptian Revival jewelry, and this one has so many eye-catching pieces to look at that it makes you giddy!
The necklace is 25” long. The two largest stones are 3/4” wide, and most of the smaller stones are approximately 1/4” wide. It weighs 62.5 grams. The necklace is marked with an owl and 75, the French hallmark for 18k gold exported from Paris.
