The majority of PlatinOro's production has been designed by Pekka Piekäinen. Piekäinen (1945-2004) represented pure and clear forms in his peculiar form language, into which he drew his ideas about nature and the everyday world around life. Piekäinen did not imitate nature, but he tried to understand it and that understanding was transferred to his work. Piekäinen worked as the chief designer of Auran Kultaseppä Oy in 1971-1989. He received the State Arts and Crafts Award in 1979.
He founded his own company PlatinOro Oy in 1991. Pekka Piekäinen's life's work has survived forever!
