The denarius was approximately the daily wage of a soldier in ancient Rome. This particular type of coin is known as a denarius serratus. The ragged edges of the coin are intentional (all coins of this type have them) to show that coin is pure silver. The quatrefoil shaped pendant features a central claw set Old European cut diamond, surrounded by four stunning oval cabochon cut opals.
