What could be more regal than diamonds, dangling pendants, and double halos, all elegantly arranged in one spectacular statement piece? This beautiful Diamond Bib Necklace from Spectra Fine Jewelry is crafted in 18K white gold set with 939 round and baguette diamonds weighing an estimated 7.49 carats total. The diamonds are equivalent to F-I colors and VS-SI clarity. Crafted in the 21st century, the necklace features 13 graduated pendants comprised of what appears to be dangling pear-shape diamonds surrounded by pear-shape pavé diamond halos. The pendants are suspended from seemingly square step-cut diamonds surrounded by square pavé diamond halos alternating with rectangular step-cut diamonds.
At closer range, the dazzling tour-de-force settings come into focus. The seemingly singular pear shape diamonds are comprised of multiple round pavé diamonds arranged in impeccable trompe l’oeil pear-shaped silhouettes. Likewise, the square and rectangular step-cut diamonds are comprised of multiple baguette diamonds, set in parallels and perpendiculars, punctuated by perfectly fitting round diamonds at the four corners. This clever configuration effectively creates illusory emerald cut diamonds. The artistry and technical prowess in setting all these stones in this precise manner is to be admired.
An actual square or rectangular emerald-cut diamond is comprised of parallel and perpendicular step cuts with long linear facets that return large flashes of light. Here the baguette diamonds, step-cut with 14 straight, clearly defined facets and perfectly squared corners, are subbed in for emerald-cut diamonds. Four round diamonds are placed at each corner to provide that effervescent sparkle that is normally created from the cut corners of the emerald cut. Such expert-level stone setting references techniques from the Art Deco period in which Spectra Fine Jewelry is also more than proficient. These techniques, where custom geometric-cut gemstones are tightly set against one another without the use of prongs, create a unique sparkle and an effect of a lush, jeweled tapestry comprised of so many smaller stones.
