About the Item
Spectacular Victorian Pave Turquoise and Pearl Sparrow Necklace from the mid 19th Century. Extremely high quality manufacture with fitted box as well as a hair comb fitting to convert bird into a trembling hair pick.
Crafted of silver topped gold links set with bright Persian turquoise cabochons and half pearls. Turquoises and pearls represented True Love in the Victorian era, as displayed by this elegant yet sentimental design.
2 starburst motifs are mounted on the side with a separate knife edged garland of turquoise and seed pearl florets floating above the main necklace. The bird has a hook for possibly a locket, but which may have been offered by original jeweler (but not purchased by original owner).
A wonderful survival from the high Victorian period with original fittings and box.
