A double strand necklace with Akoya pearls.
This is a very well-matched double strand pearls necklace, composed by one-hundred-ten Akoya round pearls.. The elegant necklace has a length of twenty-one inches and is mounted in a classic lock crafted in solid white gold of 14 karats, which is embellished with forty-seven natural European diamonds. Cultured Akoya pearls over 7mm in diameter are the most coveted of all Akoya pearls because fine ones are difficult to achieve. The longer a pearl remains inside the oyster the thicker the nacre and larger it grows but the greater the opportunity for any number of variables to come along and spoil the pearl. These large 9 mm pearls are luminous and stunning: they are creamy-white with a nice overtone. The pearls possess a nice, sharp shine.
Akoya Pearls
The Akoya pearl is a saltwater cultured pearl from the Akoya oyster (Pinctada Fucata Martensii). Because Akoya are the most abundant type of saltwater pearl with the longest cultured history, information on Akoya is abundant! Akoya are considered to be the classic pearl used for necklaces and other pearl jewelry, with perfect round shapes, bright mirror-like luster and neutral colors, Akoya pearls are favored by most retailers and consumers as the classic pearl choice.
