About the Item
Like many of Wendy's designs, this sunburst pendant was inspired by a powerful woman -- the Tudor dynasty's Queen Elizabeth I. Elizabeth I carefully crafted a supernatural, deity-like image of herself through portraits, jewelry, dress, and literature. In Edmund Spenser's epic poem "The Faerie Queene," Elizabeth is referred to as Gloriana. And in one especially famous portrait, Elizabeth holds a rainbow in her right hand, near the Latin motto “Non Sine Sole Iris," meaning “no rainbow without a sun”.
