About the Item

Eytan Brandes converted a fussy 1960's diamond brooch into the striking and one-of-a-kind pendant. Originally, the pendant's center was a diamond "stalk" with diamonds leaves. Eytan removed the stalk (which he also converted to a pendant, of course), and replaced it with a wire that holds six spectacular Akoya pearls in rare shades of silver and blue. The meticulously set diamonds total 57 stones -- all good quality baguettes and rounds, and all, obviously, natural (i.e., earth-mined), but very small, ranging from 0.002 carats to 0.065 carats. All of the round diamonds smaller than 1.6mm (26 srtones) are single cuts and the remainder are brilliant cut. Eytan rates most of the stones in the G-H color range and VS2 clarity. (The baguettes are probably VS1 or better while a couple of the brilliant cuts might be considered SI1 in clarity.) All round stones are pavé-set, while the baguettes are all channel-set. The six gem quality pearls are genuine Japanese saltwater cultured Akoyas and their unusual silvery blue hues are natural, not dyed. They are near-round to round with thick nacre and top luster. The pendant has a good-sized hidden bale, designed to accommodate a number of different chain options. No chain is included, but we think it looks best with either a simple silk cord or a semi-rigid (omega or wire) chain. If you would like us to help with sourcing a chain for you, let us know.
