THIS IS A STUNNING ANTIQUE VICTORIAN AMETHYST EARRINGS AND PENDANT NECKLACE OR BROOCH PARURE SET IN GORGEOUS ENGRAVED GOLD WITH A FLOWER MOTIF AND DATING TO CIRCA 1870.
The gold is a gorgeous 10-14 Karat Gold.
The parure features stunning oval faceted natural mined Amethyst gems.
The large amethyst in the pendant/brooch is 15mm by 11mm by 9mm and is approximately 8 Carats. The pendant has an articulated bale so it can be worn as a pendant on your favorite necklace or as a brooch pin.
The earrings have elegant amethysts of 11mm by 8mm by 5mm and approximately 2.3 Carats each. The earrings have wonderful French lever backs.
The pendant/brooch and earrings have matching designs. They have applied beading throughout the borders, applied flower and leaf motifs, and gorgeous engraving throughout the gold.
Worn during the day, amethyst has the power to heal. When worn in moonlight it has the power to bring dexterity, bravery and honor. The amethyst is an exquisite Rose de France color that is the height of desirability today.
It is unusual to find Victorian Parure sets with earrings and pendant/brooches and this one is gorgeous.
The quality of the very fine Victorian designs is superb. The jewels embody classic timeless elegance. The set dates to circa 1860.
There are approximately 12 Carats of natural oval faceted Amethysts.
The pendant is 1 7/8 inches (4.8cm) long and 1 1/4 inches (3.8cm) wide. The amethyst is approximately 8 Carats.
The earrings are 1 5/8 inches (4.1 cm) long not including the hooks, and are 3/4 inch (20mm) wide.
The French lever earring backs are hallmarked 14K, the engraved gold earrings and pendant test for 10-14 Karat Gold.
The necklace and earrings weigh 13.4 grams.
