About the Item
For sale is this wonderful 18 Karat rose gold Victorian Locket. This stunning rectangular locket has a floral themed oval central adornment, which give this beauty a elegant and attractive appearance. It is decorated with strong shapes and geometrical engravings. The locket is 'open' on the front thanks to the holes in between the floral scrolls inside the central oval, therefore it can also keep a scent you adore. A piece of fabric perfumed with your lovers cologne for example. The back of the locket is decorated with a geometrical pattern. The inside of this charm holds an extra detachable frame. This frame was most likely once set with a glass. It is easily to open and close, though you have to hep it a bit to close it.
This stunning locket is hallmarked with a makers mark, is tested for 18 karat solid gold and is in very good condition considering its age. We believe that that this pendant was made in Belgium or France and that it is dating back to the French Napoleon III period during English Queen Victoria's reign. In this period Queen Victoria lost her beloved King Albert, therefore mourning jewellery became more popular in this period. Because of this, a locket like this one, is a traditionally loving gift to love, honour and remember a loved one. This locket ensures you that you are able to carry your loved once close to your heart.
