About the Item
This is a wonderful Pendant Necklace with two Continental School 19th Century Double Miniature Still Lifes. The two original works of great beauty are after Geertje Pieters (Dutch, 1636-1712), indicated by inscription to both still lifes, "Geertje Pieters." The miniatures are housed in a double-sided gilt pendant case with seed pearl-decorated loop. The paintings are watercolor.
The 19th Century pendant is a magnificent piece. The finely painted miniatures depict a basket of fruit on a table by the sea with a blue and white ewer and a pot with a stunning flowering plant. The other side depicts a flower bouquet, urn, a wine goblet, a lobster, ham and silver dome with a gorgeous tree and sky in the background. The works are by a superb 19th century master of miniatures. The romantic still life images are peaceful, serene and most inviting. The paintings are housed in a gorgeous gilt frame with a wonderful bail loop adorned with seed pearls.
The paintings are 2 1/4 inches (5.5 cm) by 4.5 cm.
The locket pendant is 2.75 inches (72mm) tall including the bail and is 1 7/8 inches (48mm) wide.
