About the Item
This groovy pendant was originally a groovy brooch. To convert it, Eytan Brandes removed all of the pin hardware except for the hinge and enough pin to form a neat round bale.
Shaped roughly like a marquise and made up of 11 "slash marks" in 14 karat gold, with different finishes - polished, sand-blasted, grooved, and pitted. Natural (i.e., earth-mined) diamonds set off the design at random points throughout.
The 12 diamonds range in size from 2.5mm to 3mm; we estimate the total weight at just about one carat. The six white diamonds are H-I color and SI1 clarity. The bottom diamond is the only one that qualifies as yellow and it is unusually included (yellow diamonds tend to be pretty clean) but it has strong color. The other five are nicely dispersed along the brown spectrum. All stones are prong-set. Note that we replaced three of the diamonds (two brown and one white), which were damaged.
For the chain, we made an 18" two-strand-necklace in a mixture of natural tourmaline and zircon* beads. This necklace is removable, for mixing and matching, and features 3mm faceted beads in orange, yellow, brown, rusty red and white. The closure is a nice 14 karat yellow gold satin-finished ball clasp. (Note that if you would prefer the pendant without the chain, or if you would like a different type of chain, just let us know and we'll provide you with an adjusted price and options.)

Marks: The back of the pin is stamped with Israel's lyre mark for 14K gold. Below this mark is a maker's mark that is either "PA" or "PP;" we haven't been able to match this to any particular designer. Below this mark, "14K" is stamped for good measure. The chain (which is new) is stamped "14K" on the tongue of the clasp.
*In case you're not familiar with zircon, it's a gorgeous natural and earth-mined gemstone that doesn't get used too often in the U.S. because of its unfortunate name, inevitably confused with the man-made diamond simulant cubic zirconium, or "CZ."
