About the Item

An authentic hand struck Corinthian silver "Stater" coin from 375-300 BC is set within a Steven Battelle designed handmade line textured double bezel with graduated "jawan" granulation and 1.8 to 2.4 mm VS1 white diamonds flashing below. The Corinth staters circulated extensively through the ancient Greek world. The opposite side of the coin features the goddess Athena, (the personification of wisdom and also courage). Pegasus is often associated with magic and wonder, and is seen as a symbol of the power of the imagination. Zeus transformed Pegasus into the constellation seen in the night sky. This pendant comes with a laminated coin certificate of authenticity. The handmade hammered chain shown is not included, but can be ordered additionally. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant.

Ancient Roman Republic 1st Century BC Griffin Coin Diamond 18K Gold Pendant
By Steven Battelle
Located in Soquel, CA
An interesting, authentic, silver denarius coin from the period of the Roman Republic in 79 BCE, featuring a griffin leaping, is set in a Steven Battelle ancient inspired handmade matte-finish textured bezel mount with 1.8mm VS1 diamond accent. The denarius was approximately the daily wage of a soldier in ancient Rome. This particular type of coin is known as a denarius serratus. The ragged edges of the coin are intentional (all coins of this type have them) to show that coin is pure silver. The minting of the coins was an annual office shared by 3 men, and they often placed the family name on the coins. This coin was minted by moneyer L. Papius, who was probably from Lanuvium, which was about 19 miles outside of Rome. The reverse side of the coin displays...
