About the Item

A rare and elegant 18th century triple pendant, known as a Croix à la Jeannette, finely crafted in 18 karat rose gold with delicate silver accents. This striking jewel is composed of three graduated panels, beautifully articulated with open scrollwork and floral filigree motifs that resemble lace or embroidery, a hallmark of regional craftsmanship in Normandy and Belgium during the 18th century. The pendant is set with six small old-cut diamonds, each delicately mounted at the tops of the domed gold elements, adding sparkle to the intricate chased and granulated design. The reverse is fitted with loops, as it would originally have been worn suspended from a ribbon at the throat, a traditional fashion in the mid-18th century. This jewel likely originates from either Normandy, France, or Belgium, around 1750. Croix pendants of this type were often treasured as devotional jewels and passed down as family heirlooms, embodying both faith and regional identity. While this example does not bear legible hallmarks, its style, construction, and craftsmanship strongly point to these centers of production. Details: Period: Mid-18th century, circa 1750 Origin: Normandy, France Material: 18 karat rose gold with silver accents Gemstones: 6 small old-cut diamonds Technique: Open scrollwork, filigree, chased and granulated gold domes Dimensions: 83 mm (L) x 52 mm (W) Weight: 9.08 grams Condition: Very good antique condition with fine patina This pendant represents not only exquisite craftsmanship but also an important piece of European cultural heritage.
