About the Item
This antique Crescent moon and Heart pendant necklace is simply beautiful!
Such a romantic and elegant piece, it is crafted from sterling silver on 9ct gold and is designed as an open crescent moon with a pretty love heart to the centre.
Converted from a brooch the pendant is affixed to a later 18 inch sterling silver chain necklace.
It is adorned with old cut diamonds, pearls and rich dark blue sapphires with a cushion cut sapphire to the centre of the heart.
Crescent moons were a popular motif in Victorian and later Edwardian jewellery, they are attributed to a number of meanings from feminine strength to changes or new beginnings / chapters.
Hearts were also a popular feature and unsurprisingly represent love and romance amongst other things.
Victorian symbolism at its absolute finest.
A truly amazing piece ready to be worn and enjoyed for many years to come.

Unmarked tests as sterling silver and 9ct gold, chain is sterling silver and is later, crescent is late 19th century.
